Recently, the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association paid a visit to WW and family in Rangeley. It's a great organization, and one WW selected to support in Down East's Art of Giving Gala.
From MOFGA:
The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is a community dedicated to building a healthier farm, garden and food system, one that can support our family farmers while producing the food that sustains us.
From humble but visionary roots, MOFGA has become the nation’s largest state organic organization, with more than 11,000 members drawn together by a love of good food, community, rural ways of living and a healthy environment. Each year our educational workshops and the Common Ground Country Fair bring together tens of thousands of people to learn about topics ranging from chainsaw safety, to running a profitable farm, to fermenting sauerkraut. We offer the country’s most robust beginning farmer apprenticeship and journeyperson programs – training hundreds of new farmers and readying the next generation to grow food for Maine’s people. Running counter to national trends, the average age of farmers in Maine is decreasing while the number of farms and the acreage in cultivation continue to increase.
Attend the event on August 14th for a chance to win the above WW photograph. Also, come meet WW and Topper!
