William Wegman, the artist famous for his photographs of Weimaraners in human garb, spends summer and early fall in a hunters' lodge in western Maine, along with his wife, Christine; their two children, Atlas and Lola; and, of course, the dogs: Batty, Chip, Candy and Bobbin.
New York vs. Maine: People in Maine recognize me. I'm not known in New York, where I'm known just by the people who have dogs as one of the dog people. I'm pretty low-key. I'm not a typical New Yorker. I hated New York until about 10 years ago. But I've been working on it.
What he can't leave the city without: Coffee. We get it from the Porto Rico Importing Co. And then all my suitcases with my CD's. I cart about 100 or so back and forth.
