We were saddened to hear that Virginia Alexander passed away this morning. Jinny was the queen mother of weimaraners in America. Her book Weimaraner Ways, which she wrote with Jackie Isabel, is the seminal guide to the breed. The world of weimaraners, and of all dogs, has lost a beloved advocate and friend.
For those who knew Jinny, the loss is magnified.
I will always be grateful to Jinny for arranging the "marriage" of my dog Fay with her German-born Arco. Fay and Arco had eight puppies, among them Chundo, Batty and Crooky.
I am also grateful for all the love and advice along the way. Jinny knew more than anyone else the ways of the weimaraner. Whenever I had a question about dogs I asked Jinny.
Last summer Jinny came to our house in Maine with a litter of puppies. We had no idea it would be our last photo shoot together.

Jinny will be greatly missed by us, and all of the weimaraner community.
